Applying foundation is not as easy as it seems. Even when you think you found the best foundation, whether it is the best full coverage foundation, the best powder foundation, or the best matte foundation, you must be make sure to:
1) Select the right foundation for your skin type
If you suffer from oily skin, with sometimes embarrassingly shiny face or greasy T-zone, you want to stick with a shine-free matte foundation. If you have dry skin, even the best matte foundations can settle into your fine lines and make your skin look flaky. Instead, choose a moisturizing liquid foundation. In addition, even the best pressed powder foundation or loose powder foundation is not recommended if your skin that is either too oily or too dry, as powder tend to settle into the pores of oily skin, and tend to give dry skin a flaky appearance.
2) Apply foundation the proper way, depending on your skincare needs
For those with dry skin, no matter how moisturizing your liquid foundation is, do not skip the moisturizer. To avoid makeup accumulating on the dry patches of your skin, it is advised to apply a makeup primer before any foundation. After completing your face makeup, make sure to sooth dry or chapped lips with Maybelline New York hydrating lip balms.
When you have oily skin, makeup primer is your best friend. After cleansing, toning and hydrating your face with moisturizer, apply a facial primer to make your foundation makeup last longer. Then, apply the matte moisturizer over your face, focusing especially on the oily T-zone. Next, complete your face foundation with a setting powder, especially around eyelid area, to help your eyeshadow stay intact.
