This was the best mascara I used for years, and the past 2 times I purchased it the smell is so bad I just couldn't use it, the smell lasted ALL DAY, Don't know if the formula changed it did happen with another Maybelline mascara too, The Brush is great, I wish it didn't smell.

I’ve been using Maybellines Define-a-lash mascara since high school. It’s been my go to mascara for over 15 years. Recently I’ve noticed that throughout the day I’ll have a light burning/stinging feeling in my eye. And I was wondering if it was because the mascara had gone through a recent formula change. I looked it up and it has. So whatever ingredients are now being used in this mascara are causing my eyes to burn and I’m unfortunately going to have to switch and find a new mascara. I’m really sad because this has been my favorite mascara for such a long time.

I’ve been wearing this mascara since it first came out. I call it the Christmas tree shape brush, but I love it. Yes, it flakes after a few hours, but compared with that tubing mascara, I’ll take this any day. I’ve worn expensive mascaras and don’t really see any difference between them and Lots of Lashes except for the price!

Can’t get any more product out of it. There’s no way to twist the pencil or push any product up. There’s girl who said you can break the spoolie brush off and then use a q tip to push it was right. So there is more product inside the tube why would they design it without a way to get it??

To reload the sponge tip with powder, wriggle it a bit as you re inserting it into its cap and close tightly. This will reload a bit more of the powder onto the sponge tip for the next application.

Very hard to sharpen. Another person on here mentioned she broke the brush off and was able to use a Qtip to be able to push the product up. It works! I just used the brush and pushed. I was able to use it. Love the color. #255 soft brown. I. Am getting my brows done in 1 week & a half so hopefully I will not need these pencils anymore.

I used great lash waterproof for many years. I recently bought a tube of non waterproof great lash and within a day, it caused me to have an allergic reaction like I have never had before. My upper and lower eyelids on both eyes are terribly itchy, swollen, burning and my eyes won’t stop watering.

I used to love this product until my last two tubes have given me allergic reactions leading to chemical burns and bleeding on my eyelids and the corner of my eyes. At first, I assumed that since I have used the same kind of mascara for THREE years, that it was something else going on but after trial and error of every product I determined the mascara to be the cause.

The mascara is nice for the price. However the shape makes it very difficult to hold while applying. It slips through my finger tips. It would be great if all the manufacturers would place a flat area to hold the brush.

This used to be my Favorite mascara & I have been a loyal customer for many years. It has recently gone through a horrible formula change & is not packaged as Washable Waterproof. It no longer goes on smoothly & constantly clumps & flakes off my lashes. I have now switched brands to another reliable Washable Waterproof and even tossed all my extra Define-A-Lash mascara that were unopened. Why on earth would the formula be changed on a previously amazing product??

The pencil is so-so. I find it often crumbles, even with the most feathery of touches, and I end up having to clean up the crumbs. That powder, however, makes my brows look amazing and lasts all day, even when the rest of my makeup is dewy. The powder is easy to use, and I can fill in the fuller inside of the brow as well as the finer tail with the shape of the applicator.
Please do not discontinue this product!

I love this mascara! I’ve tried so many and keep coming back to this one for daily use. It’s light, feathery, and fluffy feeling. Makes my lashes fan out noticeably, but lightly. It’s a subjectively drier formula to me, but not dry, which I actually prefer. I can build length easily and even come back later in the day to add a bit more length. It doesn’t flake or hurt my eyes (I have sensitive skin and eyelids). I hope Maybelline never stops making it! <3

People look down on men who use beauty products so I really gotta be low key with what I get. Nothing that can run or look obvious but still helps me be less ugly. I had noticeable results within just a couple days! Now I'm two weeks in and my lashes go hard every day.
My only wish was the brush was shaped differently, its hard to reach the roots of my eyelashes sometimes.

I have been using this mascara for YEARS. It's actually hard to find now in stores and the last few times I've had to buy it online. It works best for my eye shape and lashes. I have red/ blonde hair color, so its important that I have a mascara that covers my lashes well and "naturally". I use the brownish black color to fit my hair color and skin tone well. Maybelline, please don't ever discontinue this product and please get brownish black back into stores!

Three months ago I would have given five stars but this mascara has become just terrible. I’ve bought between 3-4 tubes of waterproof Great Lash per year since 1984. Three months ago my new mascara left black marks down my cheeks whenever my eyes watered. Nope. I thought it was my mistake and carefully bought a brand new tube, making sure it was waterproof and it was the same. By the time I’m home from work it looks like I’ve been crying all day. Nope again.
I’m not going to waste my money on a third tube, hoping they changed. I’m avoiding the L’Oreal/Mabelline family from now on. Such a shame.

OMG purchased this 2 days before Christmas, after using it the first night I did notice some irritation but just thought it was perhaps some winter dryness , by the 3rd application I woke up Christmas morning with eyelids swelled alarmist shut, burning itchy sensational swollen under eye bags. After doing some online research and seeing other reviews I realized it was the mascara. I was so upset , worst Christmas ever , I was so embarrassed at Christmas family dinner , I wore sunglasses most of the day, even worse this morning after Christmas. Horrible reaction would definitely advise to stay away from product. How can you call this mascara hypoallergenic!!

Posting in hopes Maybelline will reformulate. This has been my go-to for years as it defined my fine eyelashes without clumping. It seems like there has been a recent formula change because it does now clump on my lashes and sticks on them long after I thoroughly wash my face. I image that Maybelline reformulated to use healthier ingredients, but sadly the performance of the product has suffered.

For best results, turn the pencil gently in the sharpener 3 or 4 times, being careful not to apply excess pressure. After sharpening, remove all shavings from the blade edge. I really like the mascara and the way it makes my lashes look But it's only the 3rd time using it an i can hardly get any mascara onto the brush.. It seems as if the container is empty and the only mascara that it started with was the mascara on the brush when i first opened it..3 uses later an i can't get any more mascara onto the Brush! It's too bad bcz i really like it but I'm not rich enough to buy mascara every week and get only 3 uses out if it.

Affordable Dupe!!

I bought this brow mascara in the black brown shade looking for a more affordable dupe of a more expensive brand that I used to purchase in the hopes that this product would work just as good. This product does work just as good! Because the spoolie is slightly different, it did take a couple of practice runs to get my desired look in filling in my eyebrows, but I'm very pleased with this product. I don't like overly sculpted eyebrows that look like everyone else's on social media. I prefer my eyebrows on their natural shape, but they're thin with a few sparse areas, so I much prefer to just fill them in to look fuller and natural. I've been able to achieve my desired look with a more adorable price point. One last thing to note, I have oily skin, and this brow mascara stays put all day without getting weird, which is a huge plus! Highly recommend this product.

The product quantity is so little that its not worth the cost compared to other brands. The colour tip you see is all you get for this product.

I have used Maybelline Express Brow for Years. I have bought 3 and none of them have the powder in them.
Did something change? Please advise. Just bought another one.

I have been using Maybelline mascara since I was 16. I started buying it when it was in a red tube. Through the years I have tried others, even ones that said it was for "mature eyes. I'm now 70 and feel this mascara can't be beat. Thank you Maybelline
